Whites need not apply

Dicrimination in hiring by the state

Unbelievable. There is another story of racial discrimination by the Dutch police in their appoinments policy. Before I blogged about the efforts by the Minister of Justice to increase the number of minorities working for the police, by hiring and promoting quota. These quota blocked all male applicants. There was some anger in the Dutch press at this blatant policy of discrimination. In addition several minority appointees turned out to be incompetents. And it seemed the policy had gone out of the window.

Job reservation for women and minorities

Well, it is back again. Last weekend the police placed an recruitment ad (Dutch) to hire an administrative division head for the police organisations of Frisia, Groningen and Drenthe. The ad bluntly states that
this position is reserved exclusive for women and non-dutch candidates.
Article 1 and Article 3

Discrimination does not get any more blatant than this. This goes directly against article 1 and article 3 of the Dutch constitution. According to the commission who has written the text of the ad, the text has been approved even by the Minister of Justice, Mr. Ernst Ballin. For the record, the Christian Democrat Hirsh Ballin replace Labour Minister of Justice Guusje ter Horst, after Labour left the government coalition a few months ago. Article 1 of the constitution says that all cases will be treated equally in The Netherlands. Article 3 states that all appoinments for public office must give all applicants equal consideration.

Discrimination in the private sector

Another case, a large grocery chain, "AH-to-Go", hires a lot of non-dutch staff to work in filling the shop racks. Many of these are Moroccans and this population gropu is notorious for their violence. At some point e-mails surfaced of AH-to-Go Managers asking job agencies supplying them with workers to put a cap on the number of ethnic Moroccans. A few days ago the Public Prosecutor announced that the three managers who wrote the offending e-mails will be prosecuted for discrimination and trespassing against article 1. of the Constitution.

In previous cases entrepreneurs and managers of private firms have been fined for similar policies.

Do as I say, not as I do

Obviously politicians and the servants of the Dutch state think that they set the laws for the citizenry but that the laws do not apply to them. So they are allowed to do what citizens are explicitly forbidden. The state is far more powerful than individual citizens and private firms. This tyrannical application of power causes distrust and resentment amongst the population at large.

Some animals are more equal than others

Still cases like thise attrackt an increasing amount of attention. There is a connection which is overlooked. Freedom Party (PVV) Geert Wilders is prosecuted for hate speech and discrimination under the same laws as those which are being used against the AH-to-Go managers for making statements which are critical against Islam. It would be a major injustice if he would be convicted for thought crime, while the states pursues a policy of discrimination. It could well happen. Judges are formalistic. Their definition of discrimination is that which the laws and statues define as illegal discrimination. But even if Mr. Wilders is convicted it will not stop him or the PVV, but the injustice will rather be more wind in their sails.

Geert Wilders is declared a threat to State Security

The Danger of Geert Wilders

In a partly leaked report, prepared by three Dutch university experts commissioned by the Ministry of the Interior Anti-Islam politician Geert Wilders (Dutch) is declareed a threat to State Security. Experts Hans Moors, Professor on Counterterrorisme, Bob de Graaff and Jaap van Donselaar state that Mr. Wilders mobilizes islamofobia, hatred of the system, hatred against the State and undermines social cohesion. The report will be published in December in Dutch parliament.

The report is being prepared at a time when the Dutch government is strongly weakened by political differences and unpopularity.

US Govt interferes with bloggers

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) released new guidelines limiting the freedom of US bloggers. The caps are on freedom are in the field of endorsement. For instance on reviewing a book or a movie.
October 10, 2009
Wake Up! - The FTC is screwing with bloggers

If you are a blogger in the US your life is about to change big-time.

You have just entered the Twilight Zone...

New FTC guidelines (read full version) described in the official press release state:

1 - "the post of a blogger who receives cash or in-kind payment to review a product is considered an endorsement. Thus, bloggers who make an endorsement must disclose the material connections they share with the seller of the product or service."

and

2 - the revised Guides reflect Commission case law and clearly state that both advertisers and endorsers may be liable for false or unsubstantiated claims made in an endorsement - or for failure to disclose material connections between the advertiser and endorsers. The revised Guides also make it clear that celebrities have a duty to disclose their relationships with advertisers when making endorsements outside the context of traditional ads, such as on talk shows or in social media."

My reading of this is very disturbing.

Here is a possible scenario:

1. You - a "social media" "celebrity" "blogger" (this is anyone who has more than a few followers on Twitter or some number of subscribers to their blog RSS feed) reviews a book, product, or service - making it an "endorsement"
2. You got a copy of the book to review, or got a free trial of the product, or a free trial of the service
3. You did not mention the freebie in your blog post
4. If someone does not like your blog posting you can be sued

Amsterdam provides jobs to Muslim criminals

Criminal records obstruct Muslim employment

The Amsterdam municipality has a policy which requires all those hired by the municipality to have a conduct certificate. Many Muslim youth have criminal records and they can not obtain the certificate and hence no cushy municipal jobs for them.

Allah intervenes on behalf of those who believe

Allahkarim! Allah is Merciful. And he appointed a messenger and sent him to the densest concentration of Muslims in Amsterdam: Amsterdam-West. His name is Achmed Marcouch, the mayor of the borough Amsterdam-West. Mr. Marcouch the Messenger is powerful! His words bent law and justice! Thus spoke the Messenger at the time appointed by Allah:
These youths do not know the paths to employment. Ya Allah! We want to touch these youths with a bad employment record and who do not know how to find jobs. We created the agency "Mo Money". Bismillah "Mo Money" will assist youths making applications and support them even after they landed a job.
Snouck lies!

My readers will say this cannot be true. Okay, I made up the "Allahkarim" and "Bismillah" and "Ya Allah" and all that malarky. But the rest is the Christian Truth! The plan is cooked up by Ad Agencies TBWA and Hot DNA and is financed by Mr Marcouch´ borough Amsterdam-West and Job Agency Tempo Team.

Tyrrano-Anarchy in action

So you see how it works. If you are functional and employed you are taxed by the state. Your money is taken from you. In return you are not protected by the state. The state gives the money to those who are violent and prey on the law-abiding. The lawless are also assisted to do what the law-abiding do without state assistence.

Is it not time that the state would crack down on criminals, expells them and restore justice, law and order while lowering the tax burden on the law abiding citizens of The Netherlands? Dutchmen can now vote for such a program: the PVV's. In the polls it is the biggest party already. Meanwhile the media are rife with speculation on the collapse of the Labour Party, the party of Marcouch the Messenger.

Dollar loses reserve status

Seignorage and Empire

Every era has a reserve currency. This reserve currency is the currency all trading partners accept as payment. The state that produces the reserve currency is said to possess seignorage. This is the profit associated with the ability to buy real things with money that was created out of nothing.

What happens if an empire loses the possession of seignorage?

The US Dollar empire

Between say 1713 and 1929 the Pound Sterling was the reserve currency. After 1945 the US Dollar was the global reserve currency, backed up by the vast productive power of US industry. The US Dollar had been pegged to gold at 35 US Dollar an ounce between 1934 and 1972. After 1972 the US Dollar along with all currencies in use were backed by trade flows. Currencies were floating up and down. Money could be created by central banks by expanding credit.

But the position of the US Dollar had weakened by unpegging it from gold. More and more international trades were done in currencies like the Deutschmark and the Yen. Despite the weakening position of the US Dollar commodities like oil, rubber, coffee and goods like airplanes and arms continued to be traded in US Dollars. A problem of an international trading system with floating currencies is the inherent insecurity of international merchants and traders. They never know what their returns will be, which hinders trade. This also disrupts the taxes that are levied on their trade, which fill the coffers of states that manage the international order.

The US milked the US Dollar for what it was worth, recklessly expanding the money supply with cheap credit. This way the elites could keep expanding an intrusive managerial state and a international empire with roughly 800 Army, Navy and Airforce bases around the world.

The beginning of the end of the US Dollar as a reserve currency

But expanding the money supply by easy credit led to a succession of boom bust cycles in the 1990ies and thereafter. After every bust the US flogged the economy back to life again by expanding credit. The biggest bust came in 2007. The political and monetary elites reacted by giving the same treatment again. The FED created the biggest expansion of credit thus far, to prop up their hollowed out financial institutions, vastly expanding government debt, adding to the household debt and showing up in a unbalanced trade balance with Asia.

The American public is eyeing the new debts warily. And the international trading partners of the US are increasingly wondering about the worth of the currency that is created so recklessly. The trading partners must worry about the ability of the US taxpayer to service the government debt burden in addition to their private debt burdens. Not to mention that the interest on the debts are choking off buying power of US households. Unless said households increase the rate at which they take on new debts, which they prudently seem unwilling to do.

What is the alternative?

There is no currency to take the place of the US Dollar in international trade. To set prices, act as a medium of exchange and a reliable unit of value. Now however a new currency is being worked on behind the scenes.
In the most profound financial change in recent Middle East history, Gulf Arabs are planning – along with China, Russia, Japan and France – to end dollar dealings for oil
No Dollars for oil, because the US Dollar is an increasingly unreliably unit of value.
moving instead to a basket of currencies including the Japanese yen and Chinese yuan, the euro, gold and a new, unified currency
This would provide a solution for the unit of value, pricing and exchange medium challenges a new currency would face. The Middle East, Russia as suppliers of raw materials plus Asia and Europe as suppliers of finished goods would possibly be able to manage their trade flows in this way.

The timeline

When will the new currency come about? It will take 9 years.
The current deadline for the currency transition is 2018
In the mean time gold will be used as a stop gap to fill the place of the US Dollar. Expect the gold price to rise against the US Dollar. It is now at more than 900 US Dollars for an ounce, up from 35 US Dollars per ounce between 1934 and 1972.

The consequenses for the US

If oil would be traded in a new currency, it would be a big hit for the US. The US Dollar would lose reserve currency status. The demand for US Dollars would fall and the exchange rate would fall. The central government of the US would lose the profits of seignorage. Prosperity for US citizens would drop as import prices rise. In the short term the shock to the US political and social system would be sharp. On the other hand US made goods would become cheaper and manufacturing and employment in the US would actually increase in the MEDIUM TERM at the expense of Europe and Asia.

Collapse of the Empire

Political conflict in the US will intensify if the government will not be able to create money at no cost. Politicians will have to cut budgets. This would break up the internal or external empire of the US. Possibly both.

The internal empire

The internal empire is the empire which the US proper has become. The territory of the US now contains in addition to the White core nation plus Blacks millions of Asians and dozens of millions of Mexicans plus significant numbers of other unimportant minorities. Without cheap money to pay for an expanding military, bureaucracies and welfare millions would be without jobs, status, income and access to healthcare in addition to the number who are already there. Politically it would cause all these groups to become more confrontational and to view politics like a zero sum game, a game were one party´s loss is the other parties gain. Especially the Mexicans and Whites are likely to collide over the possession of some of the Southern states of the US.

And this coincides with the rule of the nation´s first non-white President.

The external empire

The external empire are the network of military bases the US maintains around the globe, dominating the world militarily and politically. Without cheap funding the political elites could decide to withdraw in the manner of the Soviet Union withdrawing from Central Asia and Eastern Europe in 1989.

Withdrawing from the external empire would cause wars breaking out accross the globe, in Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia. Conflict which were hitherto surpressed by the US would come to the fore. Getting the situation under control requires a new empire or several new empires.

People will be nostalgic for the lost US empire, in the way they are nostalgic for the Soviet Union of the Yugoslav Federation.

Yes We Can: Government

Sugar Candy Mountainland or Cocaigne

Since the dawn of time mankind has been beset by many troubles. In the low countries there used to be a myth about a mystery land where all was well and plenty reigned. Luilekkerland or Cocaigne.

Pieter Breughel painted what it looks like:

The new Cogaigne

Progressive movements have repackaged the old myth and have been talking about a future land of plenty where the Government cures all our individual and collective ailments. Tim Higgins explains how it works:

On being prepared in Europe

Crime is rising in the Netherlands as I wrote on IslaminEurope in May. And the State is losing the ability to project law and order.

As a result one may wonder how the citizens react. The citizens of The Netherlands cannot arm themselves nor form militias. But they can hire security. And they do.
Turnover of private security grows strongly

The turnover of the private security industry (Dutch) has grown in 2008 with 10.2 percent up to 1.43 billion Euros. Today 30,700 people are working in the Dutch security industry. This is shown by figures published by security industry association VPB.

Employment rose by almost 3,000 full time jobs compared to 2007. The largest part of the turnover is made in securing real estate such as offices, companies, schools and institutions. The rest is airport security (13 percent) and mobile patrolling (14 percent).

Even so the sector has felt the economic downturn. According to the VPB 44 percent of all security firms a lowering of turnover in the first quarter of 2009. 36 percent of all firms report stable figures.
It is to be expected though that the private security sector will continue to grow as the worsening economic crisis fuels rising crime rates.

Blasphemy goes PC

The law against Blasphemy

The Dutch cabinet will today discuss a proposal to remove article 147, the law against blasphemy, from the Dutch penal code. Article 137 of the penal code which forbids insulting groups on the basis of race, religion, sexual disposition or handicap will be amended too and the reference to religion will be taken out.

This is reported (Dutch) by the Reformatorisch Dagblad, a orthodox Calvinist Christian newspaper connected to the Christian Union (CU) Party. The CU is a junior partner in the Dutch Cabinet of Christian Democrats, Christian Union and Labour (PvdA).

The Constitution and the law against Discrimination

Appearently article 1 of the Dutch Constitution will remain unchanged. Article 1 states:
All persons in the Netherlands shall be treated equally in equal circumstances. Discrimination on the grounds of religion, belief, political opinion, race or sex or on other grounds whatsoever shall not be permitted.
This law on discrimination by the state was amended in 1980 to include discrimination by private persons and parties on the lines of the old Soviet Constitution of 1936 (article 123).

The Minister of Justice

The Reformatorisch Dagblad credits the proposal with Hirsh Ballin, a Cabinet member for Justice. Hirsch Ballin is a member of the Christian Democrats (CDA). He infamously defended the intimidating arrest of Dutch Cartoonist Gregorius Nekschot.

Freedom of Speech against Discrimination

2008 was a year of political friction and unrest between those who favour the principle of Freedom of Speech and those who favour religion. Dutch Cartoonists and webmasters attacked Islam in the same way as Christianity was attacked in the late 1960ies. They found that the government started to use the law against Blasphemy against them. Even though this law had been dormant since the case against writer Gerard van 't Reve had been dismissed by a Dutch court in 1968.

There seemed to grow a coalition between Christians and Islam in The Netherlands. The secular parties including the Leftist parties opposed this revival of the law against Blasphemy. They were prodded on by their voting base, which demanded Freedom of Speech and the right to criticize Religion especially Islam. The Labour Party (PvdA) and Socialist Party vied for the honour of defeating the law of Blasphemy. A proposal by Justice Minister Hirsch Ballin to extend the law against Blasphemy to insults to all worldviews was leaked by someone in the department of Justice and shot down in parliament.

What will happen?

There is a broad majority in parliament to remove the law against Blasphemy so the vote today seems a race with a predictable end.

Discrimination and protected classes

Even so the law against "discrimination" remains both in the Constitution and in the penal code. And thus immigrants remain a protected class under the law. The secularist have correctly pointed out that the law against Blasphemy makes the religious a protected class under the law. By giving the followers of religions superior rights to the rights of secular citizens. But it remains so that the law against Discrimination favours classes of people defined by race, gender and sexual orientation.

To paraphrase the word of Jesus: the secularists see the speck in the eye of the Christians and the Muslims, but fail to behold the plank in their own eye. (Matthew 7 : 1-6).

The state of the nation

In order to rule the lives of its citizens the Dutch government is enacting and enforcing legislation to, e.g.:

ban smoking from the workplace
ban smoking from public places like bars and restaurants.

This, they think show that they care for our well-being.

On the other hand the government has to perform its oldest duty. The core of what a state has to do. To protect the public from violence.

Two stories:

1. A "very dangerous criminal (Dutch)" has escaped recently in Rotterdam. Police is looking for him, but only a SWAT team is allowed to make an arrest. That is how dangerous he is. However, the public prosecutor (OM) does not want to publish his picture, in order not to injure his privacy.

2. In Enschede a man burglared a house. The owner of the house defended himself with a baseball bat and injured the burglar. The houseowner has been arrested and is accused of assault. The burglar has been taken to hospital, to be nursed back to health at public expense.

The state cares about the well-being of the criminals, their privacy and safety. They do protect us if we voluntary go to places were we may be harmed by smoking. However, the state treats with contempt its duty to protect the public from wrong-doers.

This phenomenon was first given a name by the late Sam Francis. Anarcho-tyranny. He wrote: "a combination of anarchy (in which legitimate government functions—like spying on the bad guys or punishing real criminals—are not performed) and tyranny (in which government performs illegitimate functions—like spying on the good guys or criminalizing innocent conduct like gun ownership and political dissent).

The result of anarcho-tyranny is that government swells in power, criminals are not controlled, and law-abiding citizens wind up being repressed by the state and attacked by thugs."

Anarcho-tyranny is a sign of the crisis of ligitimacy of the state. This is clearly shown on online forums of populist Dutch newspapers. Here commenters make constant comparisons of the laid-back attitude of the state in crime surpression contrasting with the harshness of the state when productive citizens are caught speeding or self-defending. It would seem they well understand the idea of Anarcho-tyranny.

Our future: The Middle Ages

Professor Martin van Creveld, the expert on non-clauzewitzian warfare just published a new article on Defense and the National Interest

The past:
For a thousand years before 1945, the story of mankind had been one of political consolidation. To be sure, empires rose and receded, were created and fell to pieces. But however twisty the road, in the long run it always led toward larger and more powerful units. By 1914, virtually the entire Earth was dominated by just seven of them, six of them established by white men and five centered in Europe. Needless to say, they promptly fell to fighting each other on an unequaled scale and with an unequaled ferocity. By the time their struggle ended 30 years later, 80 to 100 million people had been killed.
The present and the growing power of transnational organisations:
From Indonesia to Scotland, and from the former Soviet Union to southern Africa, the process most characteristic of our age is political splintering, decentralization, even disintegration. Hardly a month goes by without some new state appearing on the map. And political transformation extends far beyond government. Each time a new user acquires a TV dish or links up to the Internet, the nature of politics undergoes a subtle change. Each time a new international organization arises, more states find themselves caught in its coils. The splintering process has led to vast increases in the power of organizations other than states, such as multinational corporations, nongovernmental organizations, and the media. With each passing day these groups are a little more independent of government. With each passing day, the influence they exercise in world affairs grows.
It is true that the public is resisting the power of some transnational organisations dreamed up by the political class (EU), but other social units other than states are increasing their in the minds of the subjects they seek to control, as we can see in the struggle in Iraq between a transnational alliance of Western nations to create a nation that would do their bidding and a legion of non-nation groups that fight them and each other for dominance over populations and territories.

The future:
There will be continued political decentralization accompanied by massive population movements from one political unit to the next. These political units will vary widely, from sovereign states to international organizations that are not sovereign, and from those with large territories to those that have very little territory or none at all. Operating within a very loose framework of international law, from time to time they will go to war against each other. But compared with the titanic struggles of the years 1914-45, these wars will tend to be small and, except to those directly involved, harmless.
Martin van Creveld wrote "The Transformation of War" in 1990 in which he showed the waning power of nation states and the inability of these states to perform their core duty: physical security. Rereading the book in 2006 it is uncanny how prescient he was at that time.

Another seminal book by Van Creveld is: "The rise and fall of the State"

A modern day prophet

Martin van Creveld is a Dutch born Israeli. He is widely regarded as an absolute expert on war in the modern era. It is obligatory to read his books on US military academies, although his idea's are make for depressing reading for any member of a modern military force.

Some of Mr. van Creveld's books conventional and take a more or less standard look at warfare, examples: "The Sword and the Olive" on the Israeli Defense Force and "Command in War".

However his "Transformation of War" and the "Rise and decline of the State" are ground breaking and have far reaching implications not just for todays and future warfare but also for the developments in societies world-wide.

We are going to take a look at what Martin van Creveld has to say on this blog in the weeks to come.
