The good thing about Europe compared to North America is the number of countries. Europe has, well let me see more than 30 countries, while North America only has 2.
With opposition to mass immigration growing everywhere in the Western world this means that the odds that there is a breakthrough of a new movement are much better in Europe than in North America. And when one country breaks away from the Western elites domination of the political sphere it has repercussions in neighbouring countries. When The Netherlands and Denmark get serious about opposing immigration it has an effect on the influx of foreigners in the neighbouring countries. Local neighbouring populations see that the Danes and Dutch can have immigration reform, so why not in their country. Besides all these Black and Muslims from Denmark and The Netherlands are turning up in the neighbouring countries further straining the social and fiscal fabric.
And if the USA went under because of Hispanic immigration, well what is Canada going to do about it. But Europe does not really have a dominant centre like North America. If France and The Netherlands would succumb to Islam the local political elites, the very leftists that caused the problems, will be out of jobs and power. They will come begging to their friends and allies in other European countries, moaning about those naughty Muslims. Well, great. That means that elites in a countries like Spain, Belgium and Germany will be thoroughly warned. People in the political elites will be shocked and think, what if this happens to my country? I have sacrificed twenty years of my life to come where I am now and if the Muslims take over all my chances will be doubtfull. Hey, let's look at this immigration nonsense again. Let's start a debate or write a book about it.
Also Europe is much more densely populated than North America. Even if one wants to run, there is no place to run to. Well, that is in brief some reasons why I think we will increasingly hear good things coming out of Europe.

I think I agree, but on the other hand:
The USA has a very strong Christian tradition, whereas Europe, especially Western Europe has become almost completely seculiar in the last 50 years; those who still believe in 'someting' aren't willing to sacrifice anything to defend their freedom.
In the USA those 'God fearing men and women' probably won't go under without a fight.

And now for something completely different:
In you blog I miss the links to recent posts on the homepage. The menu column on the right starts with all kinds of links to other sites, and has only at the bottem links to the archives.
Would you be able to bring back the links to recent posts?
Cheers, MZ

Europeans are in a very difficult position, primarily due to the experience of World War Two or World War One. Believe me, if America had a civil war (which Europe had, twice! ) , which resulted in millions upon millions of Americans dying, the USA's attitude to matters military would definitely be a lot more pacifist.
Americans dismiss this as Europeans being "cowards", but it is based on terrible folk memories, passed down through the generations - memories of the trenches of Flanders, the battles of Kursk and Stalingrad, the concentration camps.
Such terrible folk memories will take generations to forget, and I hope more enlightened Americans do understand that.
Quietly though, in terms of our intelligence services and security services, Europe has been an indispensible ally of the Americans, and I'm pretty sure the vast bulk of Americans do know that , at the end of the day, Europe really is a close ally in this world, despite the occasional fights. Heck, even brother and sister have fights occasionally , dont they?
